Be In Perfect Peace: Encouragement & Song for You to Overcome
I hope you’ve been able to stay creative and thrive even in quarantine. I wanted to share this rough draft snippet of a song in-progress (and beginning of an illustration) that I wrote recently – it’s a wonder how you can be inspired when you’re inside all day 😒 💁🏽. I was actually listening to Pastor Toure at The Potter’s House at One LA’s message in March titled “All We Do Is Win” (check out the archives for the replay – it’s powerful) and the lyrics to this song began coming to me.
The theme is how God can surround us in His love ❤️ & give us His perfect peace even when we don’t know how to be peaceful and we are surrounded by darkness and anxiety. Some of my mentors throughout my life have said to speak and declare the Word aloud even if you don’t feel like it or your circumstances don’t look like what you have faith for. God spoke the world into motion and tells us to speak truth because the power of life is in our tongue.

When we were kids we were all artists 👩🎨 – and we all still are, it’s just a matter of reclaiming your freedom to dream and create. Throwback to on set of a commercial I filmed for a beauty brand where they featured me doing one of my favorite things: creating art 🖼 and painting🎨. I’ve loved art since I was a little girl and won so many art contests back then which led me to start my business to do art and design for others. I’ve been studying in grad school how art and play helps kids and adults to relax, de-stress and be more productive and creative in other areas of their lives. It’s like therapy and a spark that helps you fuel your creativity in an age where screens and social media cause so much mental distress and anxiety.
For the past few years I’ve been teaching kids how they can use the arts and entrepreneurship to enrich their lives partnering with organizations to bring my workshops to schools and events. Now I’m teaching adults how to enrich their lives through art by adding it to their self-care and relaxation routine.
No previous art expertise required – we’re gonna reclaim our childhood creativity and embrace the gift God gave us that is art to be like Him our Creator and create. Art allows us to tap into the creative side of our minds and is scientifically proven to help you feel less stressed and more imaginative in other parts of your life. The workshops also include teachings on how to practically live in peace and reclaim your childlike creativity to be able to dream big again with God. Surrender to a Greater Dream: Illustrated Inspiration from Oprah Winfrey and New Series with Ava DuVernay Based on Queen Sugar by Natalie Baszile
Made this illustration of one of my greatest inspirations for her birthday. Inspired by Oprah's words on surrendering dreams to God, (plus love this beautiful purple dress she wore on The Life You Want Tour!) "God can dream a bigger dream for me, for you, than you could ever dream for yourself. When you've worked as hard and done as much and strived and tried and given and pled and bargained and hoped…surrender. When you have done all that you can do, and there's nothing left for you to do, give it up." Give it up to that One that is greater than yourself…
Congrats to Oprah and Selma’s director Ava DuVernay who are bringing a dream to life by teaming up for an original drama series on OWN based on Natalie Baszile’s debut novel, “Queen Sugar.” Looking forward to reading the book and watching the series- we so need more purpose-full stories to be told and this collaboration is an amazing one!

Every second of each day is precious! This is your time to flourish and shine – use it wisely and creatively! I spent some time planning and painting to kick off 2015…what are some steps you can take to get you closer to that vision in your heart?
A goal of mine is to share more of my original inspirational paintings with the world at Envibrance Dream Creations. I’ve decided to plan and work on this goal consistently to ensure that I keep up the traction.
