Often when we have dreams there comes a time when our hope falters and we need to refocus and remember what the dream was all about in the first place. This painting and poem was inspired by the theme of a special upcoming event in Dallas, Flourish 2013 (I highly recommend that you go), the creative challenge they launched, and messages I heard recently from leaders I look up to at Covenant that encouraged my heart and spirit in a time of weariness. Where ever you are on your journey know that you were made to flourish for this time and that dream in your heart still lives…

Listen closely, can you hear it? Can you feel it?
That rhythm resonating from within
Orchestrated by an invisible hand is the unseen evidence
That you are flowing with potential and purpose
No matter your start, no matter your circumstance.
Because you see, every heart beats with an endless thirst, an eternal longing,
A deep desire to be fulfilled.
Throughout our lives we’re beckoned by the greatest Song of songs,
A higher calling. It’s a melody that draws us to rise up
To join a greater dance of destiny, a perfect will.
It’s that distinctive cadence we were made to move in,
A sweet sound of significance.
Even before we were conceived, woven together in secrecy
A seed of promise was sown in the depths of our souls,
A tiny glimpse of what could be, what the future could hold,
A dream that quickened the pulse of our existence
And challenges us to grow the distance.
In the beginning of our journey we were young,
Dreamers with eyes wide in discovery, preparing for the run
Heart throbbing with possibilities, in awe of the scenery creation paints around us,
That song of wonder leading us, leaving billows of celestial splendor trialing behind us.
When we first received that vision, we cherished it, protected it,
Had hope that one day we would experience it.
We nurtured it and set out to bring it to fruition,
We longed to see it grow up and flourish into reality,
So we could share its nourishment and beauty with others…

It’s so easy to set a dream aside and be distracted by the ordinary if it was just a daydream in passing – but what if that reverie you’re holding on to is a glimpse of your destiny and what you’re meant to do to impact history?
The vision God placed in your heart isn’t just for you… What’s the message He’s given you that others are waiting for you to deliver?
Lives may depend on it, so envision it, write it, dare to take action on it today even if it’s just a small step of faith.
It might sound extreme but what if when you disregard your divine dreams you’re holding up history by keeping those connected to you from their destiny?
Follow His lead and move forward into your assiggnement, bringing others with you into purpose & Truth – all will be revealed in His time, but it’s time to prepare the way for Him & make a move.
“Then the LORD answered me: Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.” Habakkuk 2:2-3
“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.
For, ‘In just a little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay.’” Hebrews 10:35-37

Guess who won Debby Ryan’s Cover Artwork Contest? Go check out her Facebook page to see the above winning design! *Happy dance,* am I dreaming?
Debby Ryan, one of my favorite actresses (from Disney’s “Jessie,” “16 Wishes,” the inspiring film “What If” which I posted about previously, and other shows and movies) is having a contest to design the artwork for her new song cover. I love Debby’s eccentricity (her Tweets will make you smile and think), creative focus and how she’s a storyteller who enjoys expressing herself in a variety of ways, from acting to music and fashion, to impact others.
Debby’s cover is with another inspiring singer Brenna Whitaker who has an ongoing Jazz Night show at the W Hollywood Hotel (I’m just getting acquainted with her work which has been lauded by so many. She says on her site, “Throughout my life, I’ve often felt like I was born in the wrong time, but now, I feel like I was born in this era for a reason.”).
Debby & Brenna’s video cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” is premiering on Debby’s Youtube Channel on December 1st . The picture they took on set was a great spark of inspiration for a spooky, vintage-y look – I had to stop myself at 16 designs or I’d be going all night… Watch the cool one-take cover video of Superstition below:
Debby on Her Superstition Cover & Meeting Brenna Whitaker
So I’ve done it again. I’ve gone singing with my friends, got a video camera, and made a little tape for you people. I just think one of the best things ever is making music with people you look up to. Brenna Whitaker headlines [and absolutely slays] Jazz Night every week at the world famous W Hotel in Hollywood. She’s an unreal vocalist, a hilariously captivating performer, and has quickly become one of my favourite people. Singing with her was a dream come true & I can’t wait to share her with the rest of the world. I’m all set to put our jam on my channel on DECEMBER 1st, but first it’s time to put the “You” in YouTube. Here’s a photo of us shooting the spooky video; I want to see what you do with it. The contest is open from Monday, Nov. 26th through Thursday, Nov. 29th & I’ll choose the winner Friday.
Check out some of my fave song covers by Debby below: a duet with Nick Santino singing Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” (I love the pure soothing acoustic sweetness) and a cover of “Guilty As Charged” by Gym Class Heroes feat. Estelle with a group of her friends, (a cool acoustic jam with a touch of street:).

If you’re hoping and waiting for a change to take place in your life, I want to encourage you to keep holding on in faith and never give up on your vision for something greater…
It can be frustrating and discouraging when you have a dream but seem to be nowhere near reaching it. I’ve learned through experience that stepping into your destiny is not an overnight occurrence; it’s a journey of preparation and a life class that’s vital & just as rewarding as the “success.”
Anything that is great and truly worth experiencing takes time, patience and dedication to develop. You might find yourself in painful trials and isolation at times, but know that like a caterpillar enters darkness to be transformed into its true identity, it takes stretching, strengthening and shaping to become what’s already in you – the person you’re truly meant to be.
In the dark places your character is refined to sustain your destiny, your identity is secured in something greater and resilience is formed in your heart. Don’t turn back and give up if it seems dim & unbearable now, you’re closer than you think to the break-through and we’re waiting to see the beauty, brilliance and story that only you can share.
It takes time to see the reality of your dreams & to grow into your true purpose…Embrace the process.
