dreamfoodbanner

dreambirdsThe dreams you dream, the ones deeply rooted in you, were placed in you for a reason. Don’t give up rising toward them, don’t let discouragement keep you on the ground. Continue to dream brightly and soar boldly, and the momentum of your efforts will take you airborne…

Dare to live your life with resilience and boldness. For who can live the dreams you’ve dreamed more brilliantly than you?

Inspiration From Actress & Singer Alyson Stoner

alysonstonerpicI recently posted about Alyson Stoner on my youth site Dreamer ENT. She is 16-years-old and a talented young actress, dancer and singer whose starred in music videos, Disney movies like Camp Rock and shows like The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Alyson really strives to motivate other young people to make the most of their lives, and I love this post from her blog where shared some relevant inspiration:

“It pains my heart to see my generation lying around, using their teen years as an excusable “transition-phase” so they can avoid taking on responsibilities before it’s necessary. This period is intended to be the launching pad for our futures! Do you think that the less-than-convicted habits you’re forming and apathetic character you’re developing will magically transform into a successful adulthood without any action taken by you? Friends, we’re setting ourselves up for mediocrity…”

“…Dare to dream. We have an imagination for a reason. Write down your wildest dreams and then create an action plan to make it happen. Stay focused on improving your character and skills (instead of nit-packing others’ flaws) so you’ll be prepared to fly when the opportunity arises. You were created to do amazing things, and I’m not going to let you fail. You are strong. You are valued. You are loved, and you are gifted. Do not waste your life…”

That’s some great and powerful advice for even adults! You can read the full blog post on her official website by clicking here.

Here’s a video of Alyson talking about her vision for her music, and how she looks up to artists like India Arie, Stevie Wonder and others who have substance and passion in their music. This motivated young lady is really grounded and inspiring.

Live Green, Learn Green, Save Green

(This was originally posted on my youth site www.DreamerENT.com).

Being green conscious can help save energy and put green back into your pockets, especially in the cooler months. Live Green Learn Green is a great organization started by two high school students, Richa and Aleeya, with a grant from Youth Venture. (Youth Venture is one of the organizations that helped me start my own project as a teen through a grant). The girls help ‘green’ the homes of lower-income families, and aim to reduce the living costs for the families by providing them with energy efficient materials to install in their homes.

livegreenlearngreen The team raises money for the Green Kits by providing babysitting and tutoring services to families. The money earned is then donated to Live Green Learn Green and in turn the volunteers receive community service hours. It’s wonderful that they’re helping others, and allowing other young people to make a change in their community.

A Standard Live Green Learn Green Efficiency Kit Includes:
– Compact Fluorescent (CF) light bulbs
– Weather stripping for window crevices
– Window insulation film
– Door sweeps
– Water heater insulation blanket

Watch this video of the girls describing some of the methods they use, and how making a few changes around the house can conserve energy. Maybe you can start a similar project in your own community, or even make some of these green changes around your own house.

Dreamfleur Interview with Entrepreneur Jasmine Lawrence Founder of Eden BodyWorks

jasmineinterviewheader

For my youth website Dreamer ENT I got to interview an inspiring young entrepreneur, Jasmine Lawrence, who started her own natural hair care company when she was 11. Check out the full interview by clicking below – I’m sure you’ll be inspired. She’s also a fellow NFTE alum (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, the program which helped me start a business as a teen). Be inspired by her journey from an innovative 11-year-old to the Oprah Winfrey Show and beyond…

youngjasmineJasmine Lawrence is a young successful entrepreneur who has definitely been soaring and growing toward her dreams. It all sprouted when she was 11-years-old, after she mixed together natural ingredients to create her own hair oils for her broken, damaged tresses. By age 13 her hair was flourishing, and she was selling her hair products to friends. At 15 she shared her story with Oprah and other major news outlets, and began discussing distribution deals with Wal-Mart – all while striving to get her homework in on time.

Now at 17-years-old, Jasmine’s natural beauty care company Eden BodyWorks has bloomed immensely, and she hopes to bring it to even greater heights. She recently graduated from high school, and is studying computer engineering at Georgia Tech. She’s also featured in the film Ten9Eight: Shoot for the Moon (that we wrote about in a previous post) featuring young entrepreneurs. Watch Jasmine below in a clip from the film:

Marshawn Evans on the Proverbs 31 Woman

marshawnevansIn this clip from Tangle.com, Marshawn Evans, an esteemed entrepreneur who has appeared on Donald Trump’s The Apprentice, and an inspiring woman of God, answers how she thinks the Proverbs 31 woman parallels to the woman of the 21st century. Marshawn is the founder of Skirts in the Boardroom, “the definitive guide to being a modern-day sassy, savvy, sensible, and smart woman leader.”

DreamFood: Inspiring Points
– “Comparing yourself to somebody else always results in a negative response…”

– The Proverbs 31 woman was fulfilling her calling, it was possible for her to be multi-dimensional

– We are not called to be the Proverbs 31 woman in doing exactly what she did – we’re called to be who we’re called to be

– “…it’s about how you can be multidimensional by maximizing your personal purpose…”
