HeartBlooms: The Beauty of the Butterfly – Inspiration from Maya Angelou

“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” – Maya Angelou

I love this quote and how it reminds me of how what may appear beautiful (or successful and esteemed) may have been molded through a long period of trial, darkness, growth and solitude. What we believe to be an over night success is never really made over night. There’s always a journey that shapes us, and a process that graces us to achieve true beauty.

(Above: I loved this quote so much that I created a little photographic illustration, using my favorite brooch and bedspread).

DreamFood: Be An Early Adopter of Someone’s Success

There is such a need for mentors and people who will lift one another up in their dreams and purpose. It’s so common for the masses to wait and jump on the bandwagon after someone’s already “made it.” Life would be so much richer if we took the time to nurture potential in those around us, even if at no other benefit to ourselves then to see another grow…

Be an “early adopter” & supporter of someone else’s success; sometimes the spark one needs is another who will believe in them and walk with them into purpose. When you invest in someone else, you grow and learn as well. As it’s said “you reap what you sow,” – your deposit may draw in others who will nurture your purpose too.

I’ve been so blessed to have amazing mentors in my life, and have seen first hand how growth occurs when we sow into one another. – Julene

Words of Inspiration: Oprah Winfrey on Excellence and Dreams

“Be excellent in all endeavors. People notice and remember.”

“The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.”

“I have crossed over on the backs of Sojourner Truth and Harriet Tubman and Fannie Lou Hamer and Madame C.J. Walker. Because of them I can now live the dream. I am the seed of the free, and I know it. I intend to bear great fruit.”

“God can dream a better dream for you than you can…”

“Even the wildest dreams have to start somewhere. Allow yourself the time and space to let your mind wander and your imagination fly.”

“The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but on significance – and then even the small steps and little victories along your path with take on greater meaning. “

“I believe that everyone is the keeper of a dream – and by tuning into one another’s secret hopes, we can become better friends, better partners, better parents, and better lovers.”
– Oprah Winfrey

HeartBlooms – Don’t Miss Those “Ones”

Often we seek out crowds to influence but sometimes there could be one person placed directly in your path who you can impact through love; don’t miss those “ones” around you. The difference could be deeper, truer, longer lasting.

You never know how much influence you may have on one person with your words and actions…

HeartBlooms – Appreciating Others Beyond What Appears to Be

There’s so much value and beauty we miss in a person if we only care to see what “appears to be” or simply take what we want from them.

Take the time to look deeper without being quick to judge, to love others in our lives for their eccentricities and through their blunders. We can sometimes be more patient and lenient with ourselves then with others who possess similar flaws. Be thankful for those who patiently peel back the layers to see what’s in YOUR heart.
